Comments: Some 100-200 fish were released in a lake in Auckland in 1877 and were abundant there by 1885. Some of these fish were then released in other areas and populations became established in a lake in Westland and in the lower reaches of the Waikato River. It is now widespread in the Waikato River and, through further introductions, in rivers in Auckland, the Wanganui River and Lake Wairarapa as well as in Lake Taupo Ref. 6375). Recorded from the North and South Is., and widespread in the North I., with range expanding (Ref. 52336). Also Ref. 1739, 9421 and 11115.     Ref:  HolcĂ­k, J., 1991
